Veterans Findings for the ‘Progress Report on Ending Homelessness’ Released (November 14, 2013)

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) released the Veterans Findings for the “Progress Report on Ending Homelessness,” a report describing the trends and changes in the homeless population in the Balance of State (all counties except Jefferson and Fayette).  From 2009-2013, the number of homeless veterans in Kentucky’s Balance of State has increased 37 percent.

New Home Buying Options Available from KHC (August 24, 2011)

Kentuckians now have additional options from Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the state housing finance agency, for buying a home.  Effective August 15, 2011, KHC is now offering a GNMA Secondary Market product to offer more competitive rates and serve more Kentuckians.  Thanks to HB 256, passed in March 2011, the KHC GNMA Secondary Market Program is now available for homeowners whose incomes are up to 175 percent of the area median income.  KHC can now also refinance mortgages with affordable, fixed-interest rates for 30-year terms, as well as offer mortgages for repeat home buyers.

Kentucky Housing Corporation to Continue Administering Kentucky’s Section 8 Program (July 27, 2011)

On February 28, 2011, the U.S. Department for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued an Invitation for Submission of Application for Contract Administrators to bid for the Project-Based (Section 8) Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contracts for the state of Kentucky.  The state housing finance agency, Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), submitted a response to the application, and on July 1, 2011, received official notification from HUD that KHC had been selected to serve as the performance-based contract administrator for the state of Kentucky.

Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces Winners of 2010 “My Own Kentucky Home” Art Contest (July 01, 2010)

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) announced the winners of the 2010 “My Own Kentucky Home” Art Contest.  The contest, held annually in June by KHC in conjunction with National Homeownership Month, drew entries from around the state from children depicting their Kentucky homes.  The winners in three different age groups, Abigail Little (left) from Dunnville, ages 10 to 12; Sixx Hernandez (middle) from Burlington, ages 7 to 9; and Judah Little (right) from Dunnville, ages 6 and below; all received art kits valued at $50 each. 

 
Results of 2010 Statewide Homeless Count Announced (June 30, 2010)

Today, June 30, at a regular meeting of the Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness (KICH) Executive Committee in Frankfort, the results of the 2010 Point-In-Time Count of the Homeless were released. 

 

 
Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces 2010 Emergency Shelter Grant Funding (June 01, 2010)

Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) has announced the latest recipients, outside of Fayette and Jefferson Counties, of Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds.  Forty-six projects proposed by nonprofit agencies and local governments will receive a total of $1,338,030 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist the homeless in Kentucky.

First Lady Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Recovery Kentucky Center (May 20, 2010)

First Lady Jane Beshear, along with Department for Local Government (DLG) Commissioner Tony Wilder and Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) Chief Executive Officer Richard L. McQuady, participated in a ribbon-cutting event today for Owensboro Regional Recovery, Ltd., one of ten recovery centers that works to reduce the state’s drug and homelessness problems. Owensboro Regional Recovery, Ltd., will provide counseling, support, and hope for up to 100 men at a time who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.

 
Kentucky’s Rents Rise While Wages Fall (May 14, 2010)

The recent economic crisis has impacted all Americans and caused prices to increase and wages to decrease.  A family needs to earn $18.44 per hour, or nearly $38,360 a year, to afford a modest rental home in the United States, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s Out of Reach 2010 report, released April 21, 2010.  Despite the recession, the report finds that rents continue to rise, while wages continue to fall across the country.  The estimated average wage for renters in the United States this year is only $14.44, a decline from $14.69 in 2009.

Governor Announces Homelessness Prevention and Housing Program Funding (September 22, 2009)
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, along with Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) Chief Executive Officer Richard L. McQuady, today announced the recipients of Kentucky’s Housing and Emergency Assistance Reaching The Homeless (KY HEARTH) Program grant funds.  This initiative is part of the national American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 and the federal Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.  Lexington, Louisville and Covington received direct allocations.  KHC administers the balance of the state’s portion.

Gov. Beshear Announces New Homelessness Prevention and Housing Program (May 27, 2009)

McQuady, and U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness National Team Leader Michael German, today announced that Kentucky has applied for more than $18.5 million for a new program to provide rental assistance and services to prevent people from becoming homeless and to help those who are experiencing homelessness.

2008 Housing Credit and Rental Production Funding Awards (March 31, 2008)

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the latest round of funding from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, Small Multifamily Affordable Loan (SMAL) Program and Low Income Housing Tax Credits (Housing Credit).  Twenty-nine recipient projects around the state will create 1,043 total units of affordable housing in Kentucky communities.  Total program funding amounts are $3,993,856 AHTF; $3,951,915 HOME; $500,000 SMAL; and $7,284,306 Housing Credit.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Takes Place at Women’s Addiction Recovery Manor (August 27, 2007)

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in Henderson on Monday, August 27, 2007, for the first of many recovery centers that will simultaneously reduce the state’s drug and homeless problems.  The Women’s Addiction Recovery Manor (WARM), on McKinley Street, will provide counseling, support and hope for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces Latest Project Funding (June 07, 2007)

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the latest round of funding from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, Small Multifamily Affordable Loan (SMAL) Program and Low Income Housing Tax Credits (Housing Credits).  Sixteen recipients around the state will receive nearly $9 million to fund housing developments in their communities and produce approximately 631 units of affordable housing.

 
Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces Emergency Shelter Grant Funding (June 06, 2007)

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the latest recipients, outside of Fayette and Jefferson Counties, of Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds.  Forty-four projects proposed by nonprofit agencies and local governments will receive a total of $1,358,739 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist the homeless in Kentucky.  In addition, Jefferson and Fayette Counties, which administer their own ESG programs, will receive $616,607 from HUD to fund 38 projects.

 
Partnership Helps Record Breaking Number of Kentuckians Become Homeowners (February 13, 2007)

While the housing market began to slow across the country in 2006, Kentucky Housing’s network of 850 lenders helped provide over $500 million in affordable mortgage loans to more than 5,000 Kentucky households, a new record for the 35-year-old state housing finance agency.  Kentucky Housing recognized the top lending partners at the Second Annual Lender Recognition Luncheon today.

 
Kentucky Housing Corporation Announces Emergency Shelter Grant and EmergencyShelter Grant Match Funding Availability (January 24, 2007)

Kentucky Housing Corporation has announced the availability of Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funding along with the first round of Emergency Shelter Grant Match (ESGM) funds.  ESG is a federal program administered by Kentucky Housing that was established in 1989 to aid America’s homeless.
